Travel & Championship Meets
Corpus Christi Meet
Typically held the first full weekend of January, often during Winter Break. Swimmers usually leave early Friday morning, travel together, stay overnight, and return Saturday evening.
Parent chaperones and drivers are needed, with carpooling typically coordinated by the team. AISD has historically covered swimmer hotel rooms, while transportation, meals, and chaperone accommodations are generally paid by each family.
District Meet
Usually held in mid-January in the Austin area and includes AISD schools. This is a one-day meet, and swimmers typically arrange their own transportation.
Swimmers who place in the top six in their events advance to Regionals.
Regional Meet
Typically held the first full weekend of February, often in the San Antonio area. The meet may require one or two overnight stays.
Preliminary races are held on the first day, with the top eight swimmers in each event advancing to Saturday’s finals. Relays also have opportunities to advance, and competition is especially strong in individual events.
Parent chaperones and drivers are needed. AISD has historically covered swimmer hotel rooms and meals, while parent/chaperone expenses may vary from year to year. Families should plan to cover their own hotel, meals, and transportation unless otherwise communicated. The Booster Club may be able to assist with certain team-related expenses when needed.
